It was the fragility of paper that made me look for something more enduring and permanent, which I found in mosaic. I wanted something which would stand the test of time to contrast with paper’s delicacy. I love assembling a new creation, especially when I find a piece of beautiful stained glass or a lovely broken treasure. Rather like doing a jigsaw, it’s very relaxing. Sometimes I incorporate unusual or discarded objects which have stories of their own to tell, making an appeal about valuing the overlooked and forgotten.
